Welcome message from EWRS President

Welcome message from EWRS President

Dear colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome EWRS members, non-members and our internatio- nal visitors to the 18th EWRS symposium in the beautiful city of Ljubljana. The local organizing com- mittee, led by Prof. Dr. Andrej Simončič, have worked hard to ensure that all attendees enjoy a stimu- lating professional, social and cultural experience, and I hope you enjoy each of those experiences in equal measure! The Programme Committee have strived to ensure a diverse scienti c program- me, including some new initiatives such as a dedicated student oral presentation session, specially invited plenary speakers, themed workshops and a panel discussion to address future directions in weed research. Other symposium sessions focus on several core disciplines and interests for the international weed science community and many of these research areas are closely aligned with the EWRS working groups. These working groups are the lifeblood of EWRS activity and provide an opportunity for researchers with similar interests to get together in meetings and workshops, partly funded by the EWRS, to discuss their research and identify collaborations. The EWRS working groups will be holding meetings during the symposium, and whether you have attended a working group meeting before or not, I would encourage you to go along, sign up and increase your involvement in EWRS activities!! Now that you are here, I hope you nd time to work hard (but not too hard!), re ect, refresh, explore and maybe even party a little with old friends and new acquaintances!

Enjoy!

PAUL NEVE
